Why do Men avoid Condoms ।। Know how to handle it ।।

Ladies, the list of arguments a man can give you to avoid using a condom can be endless - "erectile problems", "I don't like it", "it can reduce pleasure", "I'm allergic to latex", etc. further. If you find yourself in a sticky spot where your partner simply refuses to wear a condom, remind them of the logical reasons why it's a must! It could help him become more aware of the value and benefits of using a condom not only for you, but for himself as well!
Health Shots spoke to Dr. Sanjay Kumavat, Consultant Psychiatrist and Sexologist at Fortis Hospital, Mulund, Mumbai to suggest some ways to reinforce the importance of condoms.

1. Use an assertive communication technique

In order not to leave room for "no", you should talk about this with your partner before sex. Asking your partner to use a condom might be a little weird, but it's so essential to safe sex. So don't worry. Dr Kumavat advises: “Be assertive in your communication and make sure your partner knows why a condom is necessary. Plus, it's not always a breach of trust to ask to use a condom.” But try to avoid talking right before or during sex; instead, choose a time when neither of you is tense.

2. Explain the benefits of wearing a condom

The best way to get your partner to use a condom is to outline the benefits of using one. “Emphasize the benefits of using condoms. It is a protection against bacterial infections and sexually transmitted diseases, reduces friction and prevents wear and tear of the vaginal epithelium," says Dr. Kumavat Since each couple wants to try different positions to avoid monotony, there is a risk because some positions can cause infection to both partners.

3. Improves the game

The game can be improved by using a condom. Simply let your partner know that you can still feel them, even if they have a condom on, to make them less reluctant to wear one. According to Dr. Kumavat, “Condoms are lubricated. So it can reduce friction and prolong the ejaculation phase, increasing the pleasure of sex and making the sex last longer.” In fact, the color and taste of the condom can add to the experience.

4. It helps you avoid unwanted pregnancy

If you have to be more responsible, then be! Educate your partner about the benefits of using a condom, especially that it can prevent unwanted pregnancy. "Condoms have a contraceptive value that prevents unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases," says Dr. Kumavat.

5. Offer instead of insisting

Always carry condoms with you, because during a passionate moment the act may pass and then it would be pointless to regret. Therefore, instead of "insisting" on condom use, offer them by making them available. Also make sure about your partner's sexual history.
